Overview
Regularly cleaning your catalog ensures that customers see accurate information and search results remain relevant. Using the Data Quality Dashboard, you can quickly identify records that don’t meet your store’s standards.
Before making permanent changes to your Main Data, you should use a Changeset to review proposed deletions.
Identifying Issues
The Data Quality Dashboard provides a bird’s-eye view of your catalog health. It runs Validation Rules to flag missing descriptions, broken images, or duplicate SKUs.

1. Navigate to the **Data Quality Dashboard**.
2. Review the **Health Score** for your Product entity.
3. Click on a specific issue type (e.g., "Duplicate SKUs") to see the affected records.
4. Select the records you want to address.
Running a Cleanup
Once you’ve identified stale or low-quality data, you can perform a bulk cleanup.
**Warning:** Deleting records from **Main Data** is permanent and cannot be undone. Always verify your selection in a **Changeset** before applying changes.
1. Filter the **Product** grid to show the records targeted for removal.
2. Click **Mass Actions** and select **Delete**.
3. Choose **Create Changeset** to review the impact before final deletion.
4. Open the **Changeset** to confirm the list of products.
5. Click **Apply to Main Data** to finalize the cleanup.
Best Practices for Automation
To keep your catalog clean without manual effort, consider these strategies:
- Scheduled Validation: Configure Validation Rules to run daily and alert you to new quality issues.
- Auto-Archive: Set up a rule to move products with zero stock and no sales in 90 days to an “Archive” category instead of deleting them immediately.
- Supplier Sync: If you sync with external suppliers, ensure your import mappings correctly handle “out of stock” or “discontinued” statuses.
Troubleshooting
Why aren’t all duplicates showing up?
Ensure your Validation Rules for duplicates are checking the correct fields (e.g., SKU, Barcode, or Handle). If two products have different SKUs but the same name, they won’t be flagged as duplicate SKUs.
Next Steps
After cleaning your catalog, learn how to integrate and normalize data from your suppliers.
